The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoP&PW) recently issued the official minutes of the 35th Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies (SCOVA) meeting. The meeting, chaired by the Hon’ble Minister of State (PP), was held at CSOI, KG Marg on March 10, 2026, with the official notification released on May 4, 2026.
Among the various topics discussed, a prominent new agenda item concerning the welfare of Armed Forces veterans was reviewed and subsequently concluded.
The Proposal: Addressing Pension Anomalies
Agenda Item No. 28 focused on the Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare and the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). The proposal advocated for an urgent resolution to the long-pending pension grievances of Ex-servicemen.
Specifically, it requested the scheduling of a dedicated meeting between the Indian Ex-Services League (IESL) Central Body and the CGDA. The primary goal of this proposed meeting was to resolve reported pension anomalies disproportionately affecting:
- Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs)
- Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs)
- Other Ranks
The Decision: Item Closed
Upon review during the SCOVA meeting, the committee addressed the status of these grievances. It was noted that a comprehensive meeting with various Pensioners’ Welfare Associations—including the IESL Central Body—had already taken place on June 25, 2025.
Because the reported anomalies and grievances were formally addressed during that prior session, the committee determined that a new, dedicated meeting was unnecessary. Consequently, the agenda item was officially treated as closed.
